Unique Design Book from SAISC
The Southern African Institute of Steel Construction (SAISC) has just completed its course on the design of connections, which was based on the book, Connections for Structural Steelwork, which it is producing on the subject.
SAISC executive director, Dr Hennie de Clercq says the institute is extremely proud of the work it has done to produce the book. “This handbook will be unlike any other in the world. It will be the only work in the English language covering connection design in all its aspects,” he says.
De Clerq says that considerable development work was accomplished in the writing of the book, which leads to improvements in the quality and reliability of the design and to significant cost savings in the design process. “We believe that the book will promote to the standardisation of steel structures, which will have a positive impact on cost as well as construction time.”
Connections for Structural Steelwork will be officially launched in April 2012
